What is the MTCP Scholarship?

The Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP) Scholarship is a prestigious, fully funded award sponsored by the Malaysian Government, dedicated to supporting international students from developing countries in pursuing postgraduate studies in Malaysia.

Beyond academic achievement, the programme is designed to equip scholars with the knowledge and practical skills needed to drive meaningful development in their home countries — strengthening ties between Malaysia and the global community.

The scholarship covers a period of 24 to 36 months for a Master’s Degree Programme, accommodating all modes of study: Coursework, Mixed Mode, and Research.

Living, accommodation, and other personal allowances are provided throughout the award period.

A return economy-class airline ticket from your home country to Malaysia and back is included.


Eligibility Criteria

Nationality
International students from MTCP recipient countries
Age limit
Not more than 45 years old at date of application
Academic qualification
Min. Second Class Upper (Honours) / CGPA 3.00 at undergraduate level
Programme type
Master’s Degree — Coursework, Mixed Mode, or Research
  • IELTS overall score of 6.0 and above
  • TOEFL iBT total score of 60 and above
  • Previous degree(s) completed with English as the medium of instruction
